- Roman Abramovich will be looking for at least £2.5bn offer to tempt him into selling Chelsea

Russian billionaire and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will demand a reported fee of £2.5billion to consider the idea of selling the Premier League outfit.

According to a UK Sun report citing sources at The Times, the Russian is "not actively looking to sell" the club he acquired in 2003.

Reports emerged that the Russian billionaire, who is reportedly worth around £9bn, was looking to offload the West London outfit following misunderstanding with the authorities over his visa status.
However, The Times suggests the 51-year-old remains committed to Chelsea and "has no plans to sell".

The Blues Italian boss Maurizio Sarri directed affairs at Newcastle on Sunday as Chelsea claimed their third straight victory with a 2-1 win.

Interestingly, it was suggested that an American private equity firm, Silver Lake could not make any headway in a bid to buy a minority stake.

The Sunday Times further stressed that Abramovich has retained Joe Ravitch of the Raine Group, a boutique bank specialising in sport, to help broker a sale.

However, Monday, August 27, 2018 report claims the group has been acting as consultants for the English Premier League side for "several years" and has not been instructed to find a buyer.

Based in New York, Raine Group ensured Premier League defending champs, City were handed a £265million investment from China Media Capital for a 13 per cent stake in the club.

Also Britain's richest man and Blues season ticket holder Sir Jim Ratcliffe was previously reported to have had a £2bn bid for Chelsea snubbed by Abramovich this summer.

Interestingly, the Chelsea owner's £2.5bn valuation would make the Blues the second most valuable in the English topflight.

Presently the Red Devils are worth around £3.2bn after their shares reached an all-time record high seven days ago.
